Installation at the National Library of the Republic of Moldova
The automatic book scanner ScanRobot® drives digitisation for the development of the digital library.
In the first quarter of 2022, Treventus installed one ScanRobot® in the National Library of the Republic of Moldova. With this customer we were able to install a ScanRobot® in a new country and can help with the development of the digital library of the National Library.
Project goal and background
The goal to digitize the cultural, scientific and educational heritage of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova has now reached a new level. Within the current project phase, the automatic book scanner ScanRobot® was acquired to increase the scanning progress.
The "foundation stone" for the development of the National Library's digital library was laid already in 2010. Since then, eight collections have been digitised and over 800,000 pages are available online for the general public. As the collection of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova contains about two million five hundred thousand documents, this project now, is an important step in the digitisation of the National Library in the next decade.
According to the Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan the unique digital library system of the Republic of Moldova shall be synchronised with the Romanian library and the EU library system.
Specific file naming requirements
The National Library of the Republic of Moldova has a specific file naming convention. Within this convention the pagination on the page shall be part of the name from scan.
When scanning manually, the number of pages per day is countable and manual page renaming therefore manageable. With the automatic book scanner ScanRobot®, the daily number of pages is now many times higher and therefore a software-supported renaming is necessary.

With its comprehensive renaming options, ScanGate® helps the National Library of the Republic of Moldova to quickly rename the pages according to their naming convention.
Until now Treventus could fulfil all the renaming requests that have been made to us.
